Need to block noice?

We have been asked again and again how to block the noise coming through the doors.  And here it is.  We did not want to post this information before we actually tested the product to make sure it works,

And boy, it does work!

STC (Sound Transmission Class) is 32. What does it mean? It means that this cover provides you with sound reduction level similar you typical interior wall. (Single layer of 1/2″ drywall on each side, wood studs).

Door Sound Barrier blocks up to 49 dB of high frequencies sound, which is the one of the most annoying high pitched sounds.

Here are the test results from Riverbank Acoustical Laboratories. We will have a video of our scientific and less than scientific testing on this site soon.

So what are Door Sound Barrier Panels?

The panels made out of thick  Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) layer, reinforced with ballistic nylon for durability of a daily use. (Normally MLV is intended to be used as part of wall structure and tears easily.) On the other side we attached a layer of acoustic foam. Around the perimeter of the panels we provided a 2 inch Velcro strips.

When you are dealing with sound it must be clearly understood that sound is more like water, not like light.  That means that the sound will seep through any openings and any holes,  you cannot just put a piece of barrier in front of it and "shade" yourself from the sound - you need to seal all leaks. This is why we provided the Velcro.  You can separate one piece of Velcro and attach it (staple or glue) to the frame around the door and then attach the Door Sound barrier.

On the top portion we provided 6 loops to hang the Door Sound Barrier on. you can use a curtain rod and hooks or you can just use screws. we recommend to use ALL of the supporting loops, not just two, because the barrier is VERY VERY heavy.

The only color we have is Black.

The way it is designed is that the Black surface should be directed towards the source of the sound and the foam portion should be facing the door.  But in reality for sound transmission loss, it does not really matter.

86 x 40 inches with 80 x 33 acoustic foam center.

"The Carry-On Vocal Booth is lighter, easier to use, sounds better, and, in my opinion, far more functional than any other portable VO booth I've seen. Harlan's booth uses Auralex pyramid foam, which does a good job of diffusing the sound, but does only a fair job of absorption . . . . I like the Carry-On much better!"
